What do I take from Obama Day

If you don’t know by now, I’m a black conservative American male with great love for my country. With that said, I’m both happy and worried about the direction of our nation. On this historic day I will not go into political discussions. I think it goes without saying why I, as a conservative, am worried about socialism.

I want to focus on the significance of what today brings as a black American. Ironically, Obama’s election proves my point on the greatness of America. Six years ago no one could tell you who this unknown “community organizer” was! In the battle ground that is Washington D.C. with all the “glad handing” and “Good ole Boy” politics, a minority has rose up to become the leader of the free world. This has confirmed my belief that anything can be achieved from anyone through our American way of life. Of course it’s not perfect, nothing or no country is. It’s about time that we stop having to mention this disclaimer every time we talk about the greatness of America. If Obama can became President, how can you tell me that any child no matter the color can’t be what he or she wants to be. You can’t! Yes, there will be obstacles. You don’t think Obama had any obstacles to over come? You try going up against the Clinton machine and get back to me.

As a nation, America is an infant in the life of world history. Thus we are a child prodigy in how a nation gives liberty to it’s people. The world never hated us, foreign liberal elites did. The average foreigner loves what America stands for. I’ve been to Europe and Asia and talked with everyday people and confirmed this.

I employ anyone, no I challenge anyone to give me a society or nation that is better. Prove to me that there is another country on earth or the universe where an individual has as much freedom, liberty, and opportunity to became what they dream of.

As I’ve said before, sans politics, Obama represents what I love so much about my country. So as my president, I wish him luck. As a man, I am very proud of his accomplishment.

  3. Could not agree more - except for the part about foreign liberal elite. I am not even sure what you mean by that, but as someone who watched America from the other side of the world, I can tell you one of the main reasons why America was not liked (hated is too strong a word here - and is not applicable, really) was because of the actions of it’s government in other parts of the world, which at times were downright unlawful and undemocratic.

When the biggest guy on the block act in ways that does not befit him, it leaves a bitter taste in everyone else’s mouth. But that is also the same reason why Americans in general are not disliked - they are infact loved all over because just about everyone is capable of differentiating between people and policy. Well, except for these bad apples we call terrorists.

    Anyways, well said, D.
