History v. Ideology
If the world were perfect for me, Obama would be a conservative. Unfortunately the world is not perfect and Obama is flaming libbie. As a black man this puts me square in a battle of History v. Ideology. As a conservative, Obama is my worst nightmare. He is the most liberal Senator in the Senate. I think his health care plans would destroy our medical system which is the best in the world. The rest of his proposals don’t just border on socialism, they are out right socialist, bordering on communism.
The other side of the battle is what Obama as a black man represents. For the last 50 years, black liberal socialist race baiters have convenced generation after generation of black citizens that America is no place for black prosperity. (Before I go on I have to display the preverbial disclaimer “I’m not saying that racism doesn’t exist in America, or that blacks don’t face a challenge.”I have to put this in to diffuse the argument that I’m a naive sellout.)
A President Obama would trumph the notion that a black man can’t make it in American. Obama, the man not the politician, represents exactly what I think is possible for any black person in this country. A person from a modest upbringing who rose up and obtained an Ivy League education and now is just a few steps from the most powerful position in the world. Alone with his wife, who has the similar story, they make the classic American couple. I have tremendous respect for Obama the American man, husband, dad.
Now only if he realizes that he became what he is in a society or “system” that allowed him to succeed dispite his color, the world would be a little more perfect. Oh, if he was conservative then the world would be perfect.
