Are “YOU” an individual
I went to a concert yesterday and as I was driving to the venue I passed through an area known as the “Loop.” I thought of a question that I had in the past about what makes someone an individual. This came up again because this area is known for liberal, artsy fartsy, alternative types who say they are a certain way because they are being themselves and not conforming to the norm. What intrigues me is that if a person hangs out in area where everyone dress, believes, and behaves in the same exact manner, can they claim to be individuals?
If you are an musician, keeping with the concert theme, and you have the typical long hair, tattoos, and piercings, aren’t you conforming to a stereotypical image of what a musician is? In my opinion an individual in the true sense is a person who’s in a rock band but clean cut. Not to say that means the typical musicians aren’t being individuals, but my point is just because you are not “normal” that doesn’t make you an individual. It takes being yourself despite stereotypes.
I don’t know, maybe I’m thinking too deeply on the subject.

I think you hit the nail on the head. People these days seem to pick someone out they are attracted to and then they follow them like sheep (Obama). People need to start being true individuals and not worry so much about the next person. Now don’t steal any of my posts, blog police is out…
