FOCA Freedom of Choice Act

One of the big political footballs being thrown around now is Obama’s action on keeping his promise made to Planned Parenthood by signing the Freedom of Choice Act. As a Catholic, Conservative, Human Being, I’m against abortion. I can not belittle the preciousness of life as a choice. A life is valuable. Promoting life is essential to the well being of any society. Promoting death can only lead to the downfall of integrity and intellect of a society.

Proponents argue that it is a “woman’s choice” as to what she does with her body. I couldn’t agree more! However, when her body is carrying another then she has a responsibility to that other body. A fetus is a human body. You can argue on the religious aspect of a fetus, but a it has a heartbeat at only three weeks.

I also think abortion absolves people of responsibility. The right to choice should be upheld, but again, the choice has to be made before the consequence. If you are not ready to deal with the possibility of have a child then choose not to have sex. We all know that condoms nor the pill are 100% effective in stopping a pregnancy, so why should you not be held responsible for your action. The government, rightfully so, says a man has no choice but to provide support for a child he helped create. As the bearers of life, it should not be a choice when it comes to women providing prenatal support for the child she helped created.

It was wonderful to see the rare birth of octuplets by a women in California. These babies aren’t guaranteed a good life. There will be many obstacles for this wonderful children. Our constitution guarantees “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” Some of us will do more with our lives than others. The important thing is that we will have a chance. Instead of the Freedom of Choice Act, we need the Freedom of Chance Act.

What do I take from Obama Day

If you don’t know by now, I’m a black conservative American male with great love for my country. With that said, I’m both happy and worried about the direction of our nation. On this historic day I will not go into political discussions. I think it goes without saying why I, as a conservative, am worried about socialism.

I want to focus on the significance of what today brings as a black American. Ironically, Obama’s election proves my point on the greatness of America. Six years ago no one could tell you who this unknown “community organizer” was! In the battle ground that is Washington D.C. with all the “glad handing” and “Good ole Boy” politics, a minority has rose up to become the leader of the free world. This has confirmed my belief that anything can be achieved from anyone through our American way of life. Of course it’s not perfect, nothing or no country is. It’s about time that we stop having to mention this disclaimer every time we talk about the greatness of America. If Obama can became President, how can you tell me that any child no matter the color can’t be what he or she wants to be. You can’t! Yes, there will be obstacles. You don’t think Obama had any obstacles to over come? You try going up against the Clinton machine and get back to me.

As a nation, America is an infant in the life of world history. Thus we are a child prodigy in how a nation gives liberty to it’s people. The world never hated us, foreign liberal elites did. The average foreigner loves what America stands for. I’ve been to Europe and Asia and talked with everyday people and confirmed this.

I employ anyone, no I challenge anyone to give me a society or nation that is better. Prove to me that there is another country on earth or the universe where an individual has as much freedom, liberty, and opportunity to became what they dream of.

As I’ve said before, sans politics, Obama represents what I love so much about my country. So as my president, I wish him luck. As a man, I am very proud of his accomplishment.

Gran Torino

On Saturday I went to see Slumdog Millionaire but it was sold out. Good for me, because I ended up seeing Gran Torino instead. First of all, this movie is not for the politically correct, it’s packed with racial slurs. Clint Eastwood plays Walt Kowalski, an Archy Bunker meets Special Forces type that befriends a Mung family next door. I thought Eastwood gave a excellent performance. His character even though crude, crusty, and harsh, was very likable from the beginning. The plethora of racial slurs lamented by Kowalski were suprisingly not awkward, because he made you laugh at them in a weird way.

It was refreshing to see a movie that didn’t have the usual Hollywood fluff of action scenes, CGI, or a convenient love story. This was a coming of age movie. It was cool to see a character in his late 70’s mature and see what was causing his inner pain and address it. I was also ironic, although planned no doubt, that the neighbors whom he befriends reminds him of the very people he fought in the Korean war which caused his struggle.

It was wonderful to see a tiny Asian girl (Sue) break through the scruffy shell of Kowalski and get him to take her brother (Thao) under his wing. This movie has good acting and a great story. The dialouge is marvelous and the flow of the movie is constant. I also love the fact this movie has a traditional message with a hint of conservative flavor.

I would give this movie 4 out of 5 sports. Go see this movie.

Merry Christmas

As a Christian I would like to wish everyone Merry Christmas.  For those who aren’t, Happy Holidays.  But for me Christmas is a time to reflect on the joy and gift that was given to us by our Creator.  He sent his only son to us for salvation.  Christmas is a time to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, who ultimately dead for our sins.  Most of you know that, but I feel the need to proclaim it as a devoted follower.  I pray that all of you have a wonderful time with your families, and may God bless those who don’t love ones to spend this joyous time of the year with.  To our Troops both abroad and at home, may God Bless you and your families as well.  As a former cop I would be re-missed if I didn’t show some love for the men and women in blue. Some of them will be working tomorrow.  I know from experience how difficult it can be to have to be away from your family on Christmas day.

So once again Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays to all from the Cool Cheetah

God Bless
